Pema Lungtok Gyatso, or Wangda'e Kyabgon, was born in 1852 in the Golog region of Tibet and was a nonsectarian scholar learned in the philosophical tenets of the schools of Buddhism in their entirety, including all subjects of knowledge. He was a great master of the lineage and a highly realized individual, as well as being a regent of the terma revelations of his father guru, Dudjom Lingpa. He received all empowerments, teachings, and transmissions from the Great Tertön directly, as well as permission to compose this commentary. There are various accounts of the astonishing signs of accomplishment that occurred when he left his body, but the date is unknown.

白玛龙多嘉措（Pema Lungtok Gyatso），又名旺达依恰贡（Wangda'e Kyabgon），1852年生于西藏果洛。他是一位不分宗派的学者，通达佛教各宗全部宗义及各种学科，是传承中的大上师与高度证悟者，也是其父亲兼上师敦珠林巴伏藏法的摄政。他直接从大伏藏师领受一切灌顶、教言与传承，并获准撰写本论释。关于他离世时出现的惊人成就瑞相，有多种记述，但其离世日期不详。

Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904) was one of the most prolific tertöns, or treasure revealers, of the nineteenth century from the Golog region of Tibet, who received many termas through profound visionary experiences. Thirteen of his heart disciples attained rainbow body. His enlightened speech, mind, and activity emanations included Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, as his immediate enlightened mind incarnation; Tertön Kunzang Nyima as his speech emanation; and Tülku Natsok Rangdrol, his enlightened activity emanation. Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche traveled to many countries throughout the world where he propagated the dharma, in particular the Nyingma tradition and the new termas of his predecessor as well as his own.

Lama Chönam, Chöying Namgyal, was born in the Golog area of Tibet in 1964. His root teacher, Khenpo Münsel, was a direct disciple of Khenpo Ngagchung and was himself one of the great authentic Mahäsandhi masters of the twentieth century. Lama Chönam spent many years studying and practicing under his guidance. In 1992, Lama Chönam left Tibet and later came to the United States, where he met Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and was fortunate to become his disciple. With Rinpoche's blessings and encouragement, he has been working to translate, teach, and propagate the dharma for nearly twenty years in the United States. In 1999, he established the Light of Berotsana Translation Group and within that context works to translate classical texts of the Tibetan Buddhist literary tradition.

Sangye Khandro has been a student of Buddhism since 1971 and a translator of the Dharma since 1976. She has helped to establish numerous centers in the USA and has served as translator for many prominent masters in all four lineages. Sangye has been the spiritual companion of the Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche for nearly forty years and has continued to help serve the centers established by her root teacher, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, with whom she studied and practiced for many years. In 1999, Sangye founded the Light of Berotsana Translation Group and continues within that context to translate classical texts of the Tibetan Buddhist literary tradition.
