DUDJOM LINGPA was the treasure revealer of this tögal text, <Sole Essence of Clear Light>, which comes from his Tröma cycle. In the present fortunate eon(kalpa zangpo (bskal pa bzang po)), 1,002 buddhas will appear—including Buddha Shākyamuni, who was the fourth buddha. Dudjom Lingpa, Nuden Dorje Chang, was and will be the teacher of all of these 1,002 buddhas, giving them empowerments, prophecies, teachings, etc. Over many lifetimes, Dudjom Lingpa’s incarnations have appeared as incomparable scholars, mahāsiddhas, paṇḍits, and other wisdom beings who have accomplished inconceivable activities for the benefit of beings.

敦珠林巴是这部顿超法本《明光唯一精髓》（Sole Essence of Clear Light）的伏藏开启者，此法出自他的黑忿怒母法系。在现今的贤劫〔kalpa zangpo，bskal pa bzang po〕中，将有一千零二尊佛出世，其中释迦牟尼佛是第四尊。敦珠林巴——努登多杰羌（Nuden Dorje Chang）——过去曾是、未来也将是一千零二尊佛共同的上师，为他们赐予灌顶、授记、法教等。历经多生，敦珠林巴的转世曾示现为无与伦比的学者、大成就者、班智达以及其他智慧尊，为利益众生而成办不可思议的事业。

For example, in Guru Rinpoche’s time when he came to Tibet, he had twenty-five main disciples. Among the main disciples, the most exalted of them all was Drogben Khye’u Chung Lotsāwa(’brog ban khye’u chung lo tsa ba). In one story, Guru Rinpoche and Yeshe Tsogyal were walking in the mountains and sitting, meditating on a hillside. Guru Rinpoche suddenly said, “Oh, no ...” with great sadness. Yeshe Tsogyal asked him what was wrong, and he replied, “In the future, people’s afflictive emotions will be so wild and turbulent that no Buddhist teachings will be able to help.” Yeshe Tsogyal then made prostrations to Guru Rinpoche, touching his feet to her head, and prayed to him, “Please emanate a most powerful being at the time to benefit these people.” Guru Rinpoche then said, “Yes, it’s true ... there are three most powerful emanations: Khye’u Chung Lotsāwa’s body, your [i.e., Yeshe Tsogyal’s] speech, and my [i.e., Guru Rinpoches] own mind.” Guru Rinpoche went on to say that, in eastern Tibet, these three emanations would be combined into one as an emanation of Dorje Trolod, the most powerful and wrathful of the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche. Riding on a yellow tiger, this emanation would come to eastern Tibet. In addition to Guru Rinpoche’s prophecy, some twenty treasure revealers had prophecies that Dudjom Lingpa’s emanations would come during this degenerate time.

例如，莲花生大师来到西藏时，有二十五位主要弟子。其中最为殊胜的是卓本译师怯乌琼〔Drogben Khye’u Chung Lotsāwa，’brog ban khye’u chung lo tsa ba〕。有一则故事说，莲师与益西措嘉在山中行走，随后坐在山坡上禅修。莲师忽然悲伤地说：“唉呀，不好了……”益西措嘉问他发生了什么，他回答：“未来，人们的烦恼将变得极其狂暴动荡，任何佛法教导都无法帮助他们。”益西措嘉于是向莲师顶礼，以头触足，祈请道：“请您在那时化现一位最具威力的尊者，利益这些人。”莲师说：“确实如此……有三种最有力的化现：怯乌琼译师的身化身、你的〔即益西措嘉的〕语化身，以及我自己〔即莲师〕的意化身。”莲师接着说，在藏东，这三种化现将合而为一，示现为多杰卓洛（Dorje Trolod），也就是莲师八种化身中威力最强、最为忿怒的一尊。这一化身将骑着黄色猛虎来到藏东。除莲师的授记之外，约有二十位伏藏师授记，敦珠林巴的化身将在这一衰微时代出现。

Dudjom Lingpa never studied with human teachers, including when he was a child, for reading and writing. He was educated instead by many different buddhas in many different Buddha fields. No one can write with Dudjom Lingpa’s amazing wisdom qualities. His twenty-two volumes of treasure teachings contain teachings that are very special. Among these teachings, the most precious and special of all is his Tröma cycle [i.e., chö practice]. There are many chö practices in India and Tibet, but Dudjom Lingpa’s chö is unlike any other because no other chö practice has the Great Perfection—trekchö and tögal in particular. Therefore, Dudjom Lingpa’s Tröma is incomparable to any other chö practice.

敦珠林巴从未向人间的老师学习，甚至童年时的读写也不例外。他所受的教育，来自不同佛土中的诸佛。无人能以敦珠林巴那样非凡的智慧功德进行著述。他的二十二卷伏藏教法，包含十分特别的教导。其中最珍贵、最独特的，就是黑忿怒母法系〔即断法修法〕。印度和西藏有许多断法修法，但敦珠林巴的断法与其他法门不同，因为其他断法修法中，没有大圆满——特别是彻却与顿超。因此，敦珠林巴的黑忿怒母法，非其他断法修法所能相比。

Thirteen of Dudjom Lingpa’s disciples attained the rainbow body directly from practicing Dudjom Lingpa’s Tröma tögal. From Dudjom Lingpa’s time to that of the second Dudjom, H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche, so many students have continued to practice and to attain rainbow body. This shows how this text is so special.

敦珠林巴的十三位弟子，直接依修持他的黑忿怒母顿超而成就虹身。从敦珠林巴时代直到第二世敦珠——敦珠仁波切尊者——的时代，众多弟子不断修持，并成就虹身。这显示出这部法本何等殊胜。

Now, Sangye Khandro and Lama Chönam have retranslated this text, plus they have translated additional, necessary instructional texts on how to do this tögal practice that were written by both Dudjom Lingpa and Tülku Drimed Ödzer. I truly rejoice that Sangye Khandro and Lama Chönam have translated these precious texts. According to my own experience with Sangye Khandro, she is a wonderful oral translator. When we receive teachings from Dudjom Tersei Tsewang Jigme Thrinley Norbu, our Lord Protector and son of H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche’s body, speech, and mind, I have great appreciation of her capacity for translation. Not only does she excel in translation, but she also holds this lineage of both Dudjom Lingpa and H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje. Sangye Khandro also has pure lineage with Dungsei Thrinley Norbu Rinpoche—more than words, her translation carries the life blessing of these precious teachings.

如今，桑杰康卓与喇嘛却南重新翻译了这部法本，同时还译出敦珠林巴与珠古赤美沃色所著、关于如何修持此顿超法的其他必要指导法本。对于桑杰康卓和喇嘛却南翻译这些珍贵法本，我由衷随喜。根据我与桑杰康卓相处的亲身经验，她是一位出色的口译者。当我们从自己的怙主、敦珠仁波切尊者的身语意之子——敦珠法子策旺晋美赤列诺布（Dudjom Tersei Tsewang Jigme Thrinley Norbu）——处听闻法教时，我非常赞赏她的翻译能力。她不但精于翻译，而且持有敦珠林巴与敦珠仁波切尊者吉札耶喜多杰二者的传承。桑杰康卓还与敦珠法子赤列诺布仁波切拥有清净传承关系；她的翻译不仅传达言语，更承载着这些珍贵法教鲜活的加持。

Therefore, I am recommending this translation as the very least of the students of H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche and Dungsei Thrinley Norbu Rinpoche, as the family lineage holder from Repkong, with pure intention and aspiration prayers for the spread of the Great Perfection lineage until saṃsāra is exhausted.

因此，作为敦珠仁波切尊者与敦珠法子赤列诺布仁波切门下最微末的弟子，作为来自热贡的家族传承持有者，我以清净发心推荐这一译本，并发愿大圆满传承广为流布，直至轮回穷尽。
